Uzbekistan has a growing middle class seeking international travel, with the UK a popular destination for business, education, and tourism. The significant Uzbek student community in the UK also generates applications for visiting family. Approval rates are moderate for first-time applicants with solid documentation.

No direct flights operate between Uzbekistan and the UK. The most common routes are via Istanbul (Turkish Airlines from Tashkent/Samarkand to London), via Dubai (Emirates or flydubai to London Heathrow), or via Moscow (though Russian airspace restrictions since 2022 have complicated this). Turkish Airlines is the most popular option, with good connections from Tashkent (TAS) to London Heathrow via Istanbul.

The UK uses the British pound (GBP). Uzbek bank cards (UzCard, Humo) typically do not work outside Uzbekistan. Bring USD or EUR cash for exchange in the UK, or use a Wise or Revolut prepaid card loaded before departure. The UK is one of Europe's most expensive countries, so budget at least £120-150 per day in London.

Apply for the UK visa well in advance, at least 3-4 weeks before travel. The VFS Global office in Tashkent is the only submission point. Ensure your bank statements clearly show a stable income pattern, not just a large balance deposited recently. Demonstrating strong professional or family ties to Uzbekistan (employment contract, property, family) greatly increases approval probability.
