The Czech Republic (Czechia) and Portugal are both EU and Schengen members. Portuguese citizens travel freely without visa or border controls. How to Get There

From Prague, Vienna is 4 hours by bus or train. Berlin is 4 hours by bus or train. Bratislava (Slovakia) is 4 hours by bus. Budapest is 6 hours by train. Cesky Krumlov is 3 hours by bus from Prague and is a highly recommended day trip or overnight stop.

Money & Banking

The Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna (CZK). Cards accepted in most places in Prague; cash useful for smaller establishments and markets. Prague is affordable by Western European standards: a restaurant meal CZK 200-450, local beer CZK 40-80, accommodation in a central hotel from CZK 1500-3000.

Practical Tips

Prague Metro (lines A, B, C) is efficient and runs until midnight. The 24/72-hour travel pass covers Metro, trams, and buses. Prague tram number 22 passes many highlights including Prague Castle. Bohemian beer (Pilsner Urquell, Kozel, Budvar) is world famous and inexpensive; a half-liter costs CZK 40-80 in a local pub. Book popular restaurants in advance in summer.
