Singapore is one of the more expensive cities in Asia: a comfortable mid-range daily budget including a decent hotel, hawker meals, MRT travel, and attraction entry fees runs approximately SGD 100 to 200 ($75 to $150 USD) per day. That said, hawker centre meals can be as affordable as SGD 4 to 8 per dish, making food one of the city most accessible pleasures regardless of budget.

Singapore packs a remarkable amount into a small area. Gardens by the Bay with its futuristic Supertree Grove and climate-controlled domes is a top highlight. The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark offers panoramic views of the city skyline. Sentosa Island features Universal Studios Singapore, beach resorts, and the S.E.A. Aquarium. Cultural neighborhoods worth exploring include Chinatown (Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, hawker food), Little India (Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, colorful streetscape), and Kampong Glam (Sultan Mosque, Haji Lane boutiques).
