Japan does not offer a visa on arrival for Moroccan passport holders, so you must obtain a visa before travel. The application process is straightforward but requires a solid set of supporting documents. The Embassy of Japan in Rabat is the primary application point; the Consulate General in Casablanca also accepts applications depending on your region of residence. Japan tourism is thriving and consular officers appreciate organized, well-prepared applications.

There are no direct flights between Casablanca Mohammed V International (CMN) and Tokyo. Common one-stop routing options include: via Dubai (DXB) with Emirates to Tokyo Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND), via Doha (DOH) with Qatar Airways to NRT or HND, and via Abu Dhabi (AUH) with Etihad Airways to NRT. Total travel time is typically 14 to 18 hours depending on the connection. Narita Airport (NRT) is the main international gateway, located about 60 km from central Tokyo and served by the Narita Express (N'EX) train. Haneda Airport (HND) is closer to the city center and growing in international traffic.

Japan uses the Japanese yen (JPY). Cash remains essential in Japan, particularly outside major cities and in smaller establishments, traditional restaurants, and rural areas. While Japan is increasingly modernizing toward card acceptance (especially since the 2020 Olympics push), many small shops, temples, and local eateries remain cash-only. 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Japan Post ATMs reliably accept international Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards. Budget approximately JPY 10,000 to 20,000 ($70 to $135 USD) per day for mid-range travel covering accommodation, meals, local transport, and entry fees. The Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) offers outstanding value for multi-city travel and must be purchased outside Japan before departure.

Japan is consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world with extremely low crime rates. Public transportation is punctual to the minute; the Shinkansen bullet train network connects Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and many other cities quickly and comfortably. Top destinations include Tokyo (Shibuya crossing, Asakusa temple, Akihabara), Kyoto (Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama bamboo grove, Gion district), Osaka (Dotonbori food street, Osaka Castle), Hiroshima and Miyajima Island, and Mount Fuji. Vending machines are everywhere in Japan, selling hot and cold drinks, snacks, and even hot meals. English signage is excellent in major transit hubs and tourist areas. A pocket Wi-Fi or SIM card (available at airports) is highly recommended for navigation.
