Current Travel Situation
Kosovo to India: What You Need to Know
India recognizes Kosovo as an independent state, and Kosovo passport holders qualify for the Indian e-Visa program. This means there is no need to visit an Indian embassy. The e-Visa is linked electronically to your passport and you simply print the approval email (Electronic Travel Authorization) to show at arrival. The e-Visa is valid for entry at all major international airports and select seaports.
How to Get There
There are no direct flights from Pristina to India. Turkish Airlines via Istanbul offers frequent connections to Delhi, Mumbai, and other Indian cities. Lufthansa via Frankfurt and Austrian Airlines via Vienna also provide convenient connections. Turkish Airlines is generally the most popular route for travelers from the Balkans to India.
Money & Banking
India uses the Indian Rupee (INR). Exchange currency at international airports, authorized money changers, or ATMs. Credit cards are widely accepted in cities and tourist areas, but carry cash for smaller towns, street food, rickshaws, and local transport. Bargaining is expected at markets. The UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is widely used by locals but not available to foreign cards.
Practical Tips
Double-check that the name on your visa application exactly matches your passport. Any mismatch can cause entry issues. Print two copies of the ETA. The e-Visa allows double entry within the validity period. Do not use third-party websites to apply as many charge excessive fees for a service you can do for $25 on the official site. The e-Visa cannot be extended inside India.
