Current Travel Situation

Guyana to Taiwan: What You Need to Know

Taiwan is an island democracy in East Asia known for its night markets, mountainous scenery, Buddhist temples, and vibrant culture. Guyanese nationals require a visa before entry. Taiwan has been expanding its visa-free access but Guyana is not currently included. The TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office) handles visa applications internationally.

How to Get There

Taiwan operates a separate immigration system from mainland China. Entry to Taiwan does not grant entry to mainland China and vice versa. Holders of US or Schengen visas do not qualify for Taiwan's visa exemption arrangements, which are nationality-based.

Money & Banking

Taiwan uses the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). ATMs are widely available. International cards are accepted. Cards are broadly used in Taipei but cash is useful for night markets and traditional restaurants.

Practical Tips

Taiwan is a very safe and visitor-friendly destination. The Taipei metro system is excellent. Night markets are a must for food lovers. An EasyCard is useful for public transport. Taiwan's east coast and Taroko Gorge are stunning for outdoor enthusiasts. English is widely spoken in Taipei.
