Cambodian ordinary passport holders need a visa before visiting Japan. Eligible Cambodia residents can apply for a tourist eVisa. For applications accepted from 1 July 2026, the standard single-entry online fee is JPY 15,000.
Cambodia passport holders must apply for an electronic visa (eVisa) online before traveling to Japan.
Use JAPAN eVISA for an eligible tourism-only application, or follow the counter procedure at the embassy in Phnom Penh or consular office in Siem Reap. Embassy-approved agencies may submit applications; there are also specified family and representative exceptions.
Prepare the current tourist checklist: valid passport, application and photograph, daily itinerary, hotel bookings and evidence of financial means. Counter applications require one 4.5 cm high by 3.5 cm wide photograph and the most recent three months of bank statements. Follow the online portal’s upload requirements for eVisa.
From 1 July 2026 the standard single-entry fee is JPY 15,000 for online payment. The embassy’s current counter chart lists KHR 405,000 for Cambodian applicants, payable in riel cash. Agency charges are separate. Minimum processing is five working days after the application day, with longer review possible, sometimes over a month. Approval must be obtained before travel.

Check flights for your exact dates with the operating airlines. Confirm transit and entry requirements at every connection, particularly when changing airports, collecting baggage or using separate tickets. Japan uses the Japanese Yen (JPY). Cash is still king in Japan; carry enough as many smaller shops and restaurants are cash-only. ATMs at 7-Eleven and Japan Post accept international cards. Daily budget: 6,000-10,000 JPY (budget), 15,000-30,000 JPY (mid-range). Tipping is not customary in Japan and can be seen as rude.
Practical Tips
Apply early enough for additional-document requests. A single-entry visa is normally usable for three months from issue, which is separate from the stay permitted on entry. Check the approval for the actual entry count, validity and stay. A previous trip does not automatically qualify you for multiple entries.
