Current Travel Situation
Algeria to Poland: What You Need to Know
Poland joined the EU and Schengen Area in 2004 and 2007 respectively. There is no bilateral visa exemption between Algeria and Poland. Poland is an increasingly popular tourist destination, especially Warsaw and Krakow, and is known for being affordable compared to Western Europe.
How to Get There
Any valid Schengen visa grants entry to Poland. Poland is a major land transit point between Western Europe and Ukraine/Belarus. Note that the Belarus and Russia borders are closed for most travelers.
Money & Banking
Poland uses the Polish Zloty (PLN), not the Euro. ATMs are widely available. Cards broadly accepted. Poland is very affordable for Western Europeans; budget travelers will find it excellent value. Currency exchange at banks and kantors (exchange offices).
Practical Tips
Poland is very affordable. Krakow and Auschwitz are major historical sites. Apply 3 to 4 weeks before travel. English is widely spoken in Warsaw and Krakow. Poland uses its own currency (not Euro), so exchange some PLN upon arrival.
